Let’s Start at the Very Beginning!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to my very first blog post! I'm thrilled to finally launch my website, and I hope you enjoy exploring it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

For this first post, I want to dive into the topic of inspiration, the spark behind every creation. Inspiration can come from the most unexpected places: a movie, a tasty desert, a fluffy cloud, or even a pile of dirty laundry.

My first collection sold on Etsy: These fashions were inspired by vintage doll outfits as well as vintage sewing pattern illustrations.

But not every burst of inspiration is worth pursuing. I often find myself with limited time to bring every idea to life, so I’ve learned to be selective. That doesn’t mean the idea is wasted, it just might have to wait until the timing is right.

Choosing which ideas to follow through on can be tricky. I often ask myself: Is this idea original? Is it worth the effort? But in many cases, a deep, unshakable desire to bring something to life pushes me forward. Whether it’s fulfilling a childhood dream or filling a gap in my own collection, that inner drive usually decides for me.

The sweet treats collection: This collection was inspired by iconic Australian confectionary.

A lot of my inspiration comes from vintage magazines, books, catalogues, and other vintage items. As a huge fan of the 1960s and 1970s, I feel these sources capture a more accurate representation of the era.

Mainstream films, television shows, and print media from that time often lean toward the glossy, polished, and high-end, whereas the vintage magazines and catalogues showcase a more raw, home-spun glamour: The kinds of things people would sew themselves for special occasions.

Christmas fashions for 2021: These outfits were inspired by a vintage sewing pattern illustration and were made in simple fabrics with a hint of blue. All the money spent on these fashions went to UNICEF.

What about you? Where do you find your inspiration? What do you like to create in your spare time? I’d love to hear all about it!

Thank you so much for stopping by, and I can’t wait to share more with you soon.
